One of our collaboration partners, Bent Christen Braskerud, from the City of Oslo, presented his and the Agency's experiences with blue-green infrastructures for stormwater management and climate adaptation in the second webinar of 'Naturbasert sone'.
Bent's 12 pieces of advice for success with blue-green infrastructures:
Get to know the catchment area and the property, water volumes and the possibilities of infiltration.
Flat surface infiltration can be tested with an MPD meter
Horizontal surface infiltration can be tested with an MPD meter
The stormwater must be able to flow into the blue-green solution
The required size of the measure depends on the way it is made
Always have a plan B
Stay tuned under construction
Think about operation and maintenance: Use sludge traps as an energy killer and a rubbish bin
Follow the installation recipe
Roof downspout: Where does the water flow? Think of the neighbour.
When it is raining intensively, Where should the water flow?
Defects on the surface can be fixed

The webinar series 'Naturbasert sone' is about nature-based solutions and blue-green infrastructures for climate and environment, targeting public administration and academia - read more about it here.
